Rev. Joseph Robbins
Joseph Robert Robbins was born in Atlanta, GA. to Schondra Christian and the Late Larry Robbins. Subsequently, the family moved to Columbia, SC. Joseph grew up in the church. There in his home church, he developed a love for music and worship. He considers his grandfather his inspiration for preaching and ministry. Joseph is a sixth-generation preacher on his maternal side and accepted his call to preach at the age of 18. He is a graduate of Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC; where he received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Political Science.
Joseph R. Robbins was conferred the Master of Divinity in May 2018 by Duke Divinity School. While at the Divinity School, he has been involved in the Black Seminarians Union, the Strategic Planning Committee, the gospel choir as well as a host of other activities.
His scholarly interests lie in the areas of homiletics, theology, race, and The Black Church. He is currently a Doctor of Theology Student (Th.D.) at Duke. Rev. Robbins was ordained by Bishop Kenneth Monroe of the AME Zion church in January of 2016. In November of 2016, he was appointed as Pastor of Solid Rock AME Zion Church in Wake Forest, NC. In November of 2018, he was appointed to Fair Promise AME Zion Church in Sanford, NC. Joseph is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, INC. One of his favorite scriptures is Romans 8:28. He believes it is his mandate and mission to edify, encourage and empower people for Christ.
